Feeling pain on one side? It might be ovulation... but not always.

Signs of ovulation

The signs of ovulation aren't always clear. Some women notice:

  • Mild pain on one side.
  • Clear discharge that looks like egg white.
  • A slight rise in body temperature.

But this doesn't mean there is a mature egg ready for pregnancy.

The best way to confirm ovulation

A follicle-tracking ultrasound in the middle of the cycle. It shows us the size of the egg and whether there is a real chance of pregnancy.

What is weak ovulation?

Weak ovulation means the egg doesn't grow to the required size, or isn't released at all.

Causes

  • Polycystic ovaries (PCOS).
  • Hormonal imbalance.
  • Excess weight.

Treatment

Thankfully there are many treatments, such as stimulating ovulation with medication or simple injections. But follow-up must be done with ultrasound, so that we don't overdo the stimulation or delay treatment.
