The difference between IUI and ICSI isn't only the cost.
What is IUI (intrauterine insemination)?
In IUI, we prepare the sperm and place them in the uterus at the time of ovulation.
When do we use IUI?
- When the husband has a low sperm count or slightly weak motility.
- When the wife ovulates well, but pregnancy is delayed with no clear cause.
The procedure is simple and not painful, but it needs good preparation.
The difference between IUI and ICSI
- IUI: the sperm enter the uterus and complete their journey on their own.
- ICSI: we choose the sperm ourselves and inject it into the egg under the microscope.
We turn to ICSI in more difficult cases, or when IUI has failed.
