ICSI Success Rates, and Why Twins Are More Likely

What ICSI success rates depend on, and why twin pregnancies are more common with ICSI.

Dr. Ramy Agamy

Are ICSI success rates improving? Or is it still difficult?

ICSI success rates

ICSI success rates range between 40 and 60%, depending on:

  • Age.
  • The case.
  • The number of embryos.

Many respected centers in Egypt achieve excellent success rates. What matters most is proper follow-up and identifying the main cause of the delayed pregnancy.

Why are twins more common with ICSI?

In ICSI, we sometimes transfer more than one embryo to increase the chance of success. If two implant... it's a twin pregnancy.

But sometimes we transfer only one embryo, if the case is sensitive or the mother has health problems.

In the end, the decision depends on the case and the doctor's advice.
