Precision Endoscopic Surgery
Diagnosing and treating problems of the uterus, ovaries and tubes by laparoscopy or hysteroscopy, through small incisions or none, with less pain and faster recovery than open surgery.
Endoscopic surgery makes it possible to diagnose and treat many problems of the uterus, ovaries and tubes through very small incisions, or with no incision at all. A high-definition camera sends a magnified image to a screen, so the surgeon sees the details more clearly than in open surgery.
Hysteroscopy
The scope goes in through the cervix, with no incision in the abdomen, and the patient usually goes home the same day. It is used to:
- Remove polyps inside the uterus.
- Remove fibroids that bulge into the uterine cavity.
- Treat a uterine septum, which can cause recurrent miscarriage.
- Release adhesions inside the uterus.
- Assess the uterine cavity in delayed pregnancy or after failed ICSI.
Laparoscopy
It is done through small incisions in the abdomen, usually 5 to 10 millimeters. It is used to:
- Remove ovarian cysts while keeping as much healthy ovarian tissue as possible.
- Treat endometriosis.
- Remove fibroids from the wall of the uterus.
- Treat an ectopic pregnancy.
- Deal with blocked or fluid-filled tubes before ICSI.
- Check the fallopian tubes with dye during the procedure.
The benefits of endoscopic surgery
- Less pain after the operation.
- A shorter hospital stay, sometimes with no overnight stay.
- A faster return to normal life and work.
- Fewer adhesions after surgery, which matters for fertility.
- Better cosmetic results thanks to the small incisions.
Not every case is suitable for endoscopy. The type of surgery is decided after examination, ultrasound and an assessment of each case.
